I can’t open it, but this sounds interesting. I guess you could do some diagnosing using nothing more than a Raspberry Pi with this method, right?

Brilliant. I’ve been looking into taking my old Windows computer in garage and installing Linux with a dual boot and then installing VCDS and some other OBDII diagnostic stuff on it. I’ll look into this to see what I can alter settings on. Might have some useful applications.

Now you have me imagining a laptop with viscous center differentials.

I have only had my 8PA A3 quattro for a couple of years but there are lots of customizing of settings already posted on the web. I’ve already done a Unitronic tune to engine but want to explore the body computer settings I can alter. The one I really want is using the rain sensing wiper circuit to shut the sunroof if its open and it starts to rain. That and to tweak my electric steering assist which is proportionate to speed.

My car isn’t new enough to have actual “settings” but there’s lots of neat diagnostic/actuation tests you can run if you have a dealer-quality scantool.
